| Each shift at Sni Valley consists of five full-time personnel. These shifts have adopted three or more 4th grade classes at the Oak Grove elementary school. This adoption program allows for firefighters to integrate into the classroom setting at an early age for the children in order to address such topics as fire prevention, home fire safety and quite simply, to familiarize the children with the fire service. In many cases, the firefighters will become interactive with the children in playing games and at certain times, give presentations, and simply be there as a role model. This movement into the classroom will hopefully move towards a long-lasting bond between the students and their hometown public safety professionals. |
